The dance symbolizes that God, represented in feminine form, is the only thing that remains unchanging in a constantly changing universe. Performance The dance is performed in a circle, with dancers moving counterclockwise around an image of the mother goddess Amba or a perforated earthenware pot lit with an oil lamp. Dancers use simple movements while singing and clapping their hands in unison.
